Tour Essentials…

I don’t not have shows.

First Signs of the next album

The other day, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Brittany Joyce, writer for Paste Magazine. We talked details about the next album and my time off the road in Atlanta, GA with Damon Moon.

Spring Update.

In an effort to start finalizing a work in progress, I’ve taped poems and words from songs above my desk. Once in place, I punctured the drywall with pushpins that highlight significant parts as if the wall were a map and I hoped to mention my favorite destinations from a recent trip. The pins will hold the yarn that mapped my route. I take the trip first, remember the way, later. Chords then words.

The record I moved to Atlanta to work on is taking shape, and with 20 studio days planned between now and the end of July, I think I can say something audible will take shape soon. I tried out one or two of the new tracks while at SXSW. A video of my time in Austin is posted below. Please, continue to excuse my absence, I’ll start running again sometime in 2014.

Small Houses at SXSW 2014

First off, I want to wish my good pal, Shawn Rosenblatt of Netherfriends, a happy album release day. I’ve been digging into this record all week and I think it’s fantastic. ‘Joey Vision’ is my personal favorite. Check him out at

Next, here is my SXSW schedule. I’ll be hosting a showcase along with my pals at ‘Action in Solitude’ and ‘We Listen For You’ on Saturday night. If you’re around, let me know. I love this festival for so many reasons and catching up with friends is the highlight, by far.

Pat Carroll

Pat Carroll, an amazing songwriter, passed away yesterday.

I really look up to this guy. His songs are a very progressive outlook on pop, country, and alternative music. Honesty is the focus in his writing, something I’m constantly afraid of attempting, therefore my respect grows with every listen. This, along with every other song he ever wrote, is a tremendous example of the naiveté and outlook of being the age we are, however old that might be.

Pat, I love and miss you.
